A 25-year-old Baltimore County man was arrested Saturday night in connection with the armed robbery and assault that occurred earlier that day in Parkville, police said.

Darrell Lamar Burns, of the 1300 block of Apple Ridge Court, has been charged with armed robbery, first-degree assault, being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun, use of a firearm in a crime of violence, and illegal possession of a regulated firearm, police said. Burns is being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center without bail.

Police said the armed robbery occurred at Pappas Seafood Restaurant in the 1700 block of Taylor Avenue. According to police, the owner of the restaurant, Markos Pappas, 83, was leaning inside the passenger side of his car to get a bag when he was struck over the head with a handgun.

The victim was able to flee to the restaurant as the suspect grabbed the bag of money and drove away from the area, police said.

Several witnesses who observed the incident provided information to the police. Police also reported that they found the suspect’s gun at the restaurant.

Baltimore county police said they were assisted by Baltimore city police in arresting the suspect in the 3300 block of Greenmount Avenue.
