A 31-year-old man was arrested Wednesday following a robbery that occurred on the previous day, city police said.

Preston Freeman was charged with attempted murder in connection with the shooting in the 4000 block of 5th Avenue Tuesday, police said.

According to police, Freeman shot a 36-year-old male during a robbery. The victim, despite his injuries, managed to walk to a nearby fire station located in the 400 block of Maude Avenue to seek help.

Patrol officers successfully apprehended Freeman in the 3900 block of 5th Street on Wednesday without incident, police said. He was transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility.

Police said the victim was transported to a local hospital immediately after the incident and was treated for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
