One man was killed and a woman was severely injured in a motor vehicle accident Monday in Pikesville, county police said.

Jefferson Mena-Rivas, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash around 12:30 p.m., police said.

According to police, the car Mena-Rivas was driving, a 2004 Toyota Corolla, was traveling southbound along Reisterstown Road when it struck a 2020 Lexus RX350 making a left turn from the westbound exit ramp of Interstate 695.

A female passenger in the Toyota was taken to an area hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries. The driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries, police said.

The accident is part of an ongoing investigation, police said.

Today was Mena-Rivas’ twenty second birthday.
