A 61-year-old man who was recently released from prison was arrested Sunday in connection with a series of armed robberies in the city’s Eastern and Northeast Districts, police said.
Anthony Christopher was charged with armed robbery, first-degree assault and a handgun violation after being taken into custody in the area of Sherwood and Bonaparte avenues, police said. Police said they recovered 181 packs of cigarettes, U.S. currency and a stolen handgun during the arrest.
Christopher, who had been in prison for armed robbery, was allegedly involved in several commercial armed robberies that occurred in the 6000 block of Belair Road, the 800 block of Wolfe Street, 4900 Harford Road, and the 700 block of East 25th Street, police said.
Police said Christopher was transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility.
