Two individuals were arrested earlier this month in connection with a police investigation that lead to the seizure of “a significant amount of illegal drugs,” city police said Tuesday.
Police said the arrests come after a weeks-long investigation into a drug supplier operating in the Mount Clare and Pigtown neighborhoods.
The suspects, 37-year-old Brian Alexander Hall and 35-year-old Lauren Michelle Beckman, were taken into custody in Baltimore for their connection to the investigation, police said. Police did not release any charges.
The Group Violence Enforcement Team launched an investigation in early September in response to a rise of crime in the Southwest, Western and Southern police districts, authorities said. As part of the investigation, police said they learned that the suspects were traveling from Delaware to Baltimore to distribute controlled dangerous substances.
Working with the Delaware State Police, investigators stopped a vehicle on the Delaware Turnpike on Sept. 17, which resulted in the seizure of pressed cocaine, suspected fentanyl, and packaging materials, according to officials.
A second search warrant was issued in a commercial building in the 5700 block of Baltimore National Pike, police said.
During that search, police said detectives found a total of 1,078 grams of pressed suspected cocaine in brick form, 124 grams of suspected fentanyl, 9.96 grams of suspected crack cocaine, 68 grams of suspected fentanyl/methamphetamine (Meth) mixture and manufacturing and packaging materials.
“This operation highlights the exceptional work of the Baltimore Police Department and the importance of working alongside our law enforcement partners, including the Drug Enforcement Administration, Delaware State Police, Maryland State Police and Baltimore County Police,” Commissioner Richard Worley said in a statement. “Together, we are disrupting and dismantling drug trafficking networks that fuel violence and addiction in our communities. I am proud of the dedication of our officers and detectives, and we remain steadfast in our commitment to building a safer Baltimore.”
