Baltimore County police are investigating what appears to be a double murder suicide that occurred last Thursday in Catonsville, authorities said.

According to police, officers found a woman and her young child in a home in the 740 block of Wilton Farm Drive at about 3:30 p.m. after police had been called to the home on a “check on subject” call. Both were declared dead at the scene, police said.

Mustafa Sharieff, 43, husband and father to the victims, is currently believed to be a suspect in the case, police said. Authorities said he was found with what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police said  Chantel Sharieff, 42, was suffering from “apparent trauma” while her 6-year-old daughter had suffered an apparent gunshot wound.

The medical officer’s office is conducting an examination to determine the cause of death, police said.
