Reflecting on his career in a recent interview, comedian Jerry Seinfeld said something quite profound: “The only thing in life that’s really worth having is a good skill. Good skill is the greatest possession…It [is] a very Zen Buddhist concept: Pursue mastery. That will fulfill your life. You will feel good.”
In season 1 of The Pursuit of Mastery Podcast, Towson University podcasting students teamed up to do just that: try to master (or at least get better at) a skill that interests them. No one chose stand-up comedy, but there was immense interest in music (playing guitar and drums, becoming a DJ), fitness (playing basketball, doing yoga, delving into double Dutch) and food (baking cookies, preparing pot pie, using chopsticks).
Listen to what groups accomplished over several weeks in their pursuit of mastery.
