A 37-year-old man was charged with first-degree murder on Monday for allegedly shooting to death a 46-year-old man in October, city police said.
Derrick Creek was picked up in Allegany County and transported back to Baltimore by city detectives who had obtained a warrant for his arrest, police said.
The arrest is in connection with an incident on Oct. 30 in which officers found Johns Wilford, Jr., suffering from a gunshot wound to his head at about 11:25 p.m. at the corner of Hillman Street and East Chase Street, police said.
Wilford was transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he died a short time later, police said.
Officers were able to obtain pertinent information about the case that led them to identifying the suspect and obtaining an arrest warrant, police said.
Creek is being held without bail at Central Booking, police said.
