The Maryland Department of Labor announced Friday that the unemployment rate in Maryland fell to 5.7%, the lowest rate since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Maryland gained 14,900 jobs in October and gained 84,000 jobs in 2021. According to the jobs report from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, all major private sectors had job growth in October, which has not been the case since September 2020.
According to the report, more than 75% of jobs lost at the beginning of the pandemic have now been recovered, with 73% returning in September and 77% in October.
