Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh joined a coalition of other attorneys general in support of the federal government’s efforts to preserve the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program on Friday.

The attorneys general wrote a comment letter detailing the importance of strengthening DACA and the impact that DACA recipients have had on the country.

“In the wake of the Trump Administration’s effort to disrupt and undermine DACA, we urge the federal government to strengthen the program so Maryland and other states can continue to benefit from the enormous contributions of the Dreamers,” [KJ1] Frosh said.

The comment letter asserted that the states benefit economically from DACA and DACA recipients. It also said that DACA recipients are important to each states higher education; the states have adopted laws, regulations, and programs in reliance on DACA; and opponents of DACA are unable to substantiate any harm they have alleged against recipients.
