Baltimore County school officials announced Friday that all schools and offices will be closed Nov. 24, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.
The BCPS community will now begin their holiday break a day earlier than the originally scheduled date of Nov. 25.
BCPS Superintendent Darryl Williams said his decision was in recognition of the work teachers and staff have put in since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“BCPS staff have worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic to ensure the safety of students and provide them with high-quality instruction, meals and support,” Williams said.
The school system also announced that previously scheduled parent-teacher conferences for elementary students will now occur on Nov. 22 and 23, rather than on Nov. 24. Students and educators are required to be in school for conference days.
