Two Baltimore men have been charged with attempted murder of a 52-year-old woman who was shot in the temple and forearm in August during an apparent robbery attempt, city police said.

Police said Jamel Phillips, 23, was arrested Sept. 15 for his involvement in the shooting, and Tony Foster Jr., 25, was arrested on Oct. 20.

Phillips and Foster have been charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder, police said. Both men are being held without bail pending trial, police said.

The victim told investigators that she was approached by a male suspect in the 3300 block of Bank Street at about 12:25 a.m. Aug. 28, police said. According to police, the victim said the man wanted her purse and then shot her. The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, police said.

The victim was transported to a local hospital by medics who were called to the scene soon after the shooting.
