The state Board of Public Works approved four grants totaling about $25 million that will go to select Maryland higher education institutions for facility expansion and improvement, Gov. Larry Hogan announced in a press statement on Wednesday.
According to the press statement, the majority of funding will go to Howard Community College to replace its current athletics center with two new buildings for the Mathematics and Athletics departments.
Cecil College, Carroll Community College, and Mount Saint Mary’s University will receive 11 percent, 14 percent and around 1 percent of grant funding, respectively.
“Higher education plays a critical role in providing opportunities for our students, contributing to our workforce pipeline, and maintaining our quality of life,” Hogan said. “Our citizens deserve world-class institutions that provide a strong educational foundation, and these investments will help these higher education institutions continue to achieve that goal.”
