City housing department gets new chief executive

Mayor Brandon Scott announced to that he was appointing housing policy expert Alice Kennedy to serve as chief executive of the city’s Department of Housing and Community Development.

Scott said Kennedy will be charged with implementing housing policy for city residents and reforming the city’s permitting system. Her main goal is to bring greater focus to health and housing to help reduce displacement, ignite revitalization and prevent further blight, Scott said.

“I’m filled with gratitude for being named the housing commissioner of Baltimore City,” Kennedy said. “I thank Mayor Scott and his leadership team for selecting me for this critical post.”
