A 36-year-old Annapolis Police Department officer was arrested Wednesday and charged with felony theft after he allegedly stole items from a Walmart where he works part-time, county police said.

Gerrard Lamont Williams Jr. was employed at the Walmart located in the 3600 block of Washington Boulevard in Arbutus, where he is accused of stealing approximately $3,643.59 worth of merchandise from the establishment over a nearly two-month period, police said.

According to police, the thefts occurred during his shifts from Feb. 8 to March 30, when Williams is accused of stealing flat screen televisions, window air conditioners, baby products, food and beverages, and various other home goods from the store.

Williams was taken into custody at his home after a warrant was issued for his arrest on April 27 and has since been released on no-cost bail, police said.

The Annapolis Police Department has fully cooperated with Baltimore County Police during this investigation.
