One woman died and another was injured when they were shot inside a parked vehicle Monday in the 600 block of North Fremont Avenue, city police said.
Officers responded to a shot spotter alert and after arriving on the scene, they received a call for two victims who walked into an area hospital seeking treatment for gunshot wounds.
One of the victims was pronounced dead at the hospital, but the condition of the second victim was unknown, police said.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the women were parked inside a vehicle when another vehicle pulled alongside them, police said. Police said an unknown suspect opened fire without warning. The two victims then drove to the hospital, police said.
