Three people were murdered within a few hours of each other in Baltimore on Friday, bringing the number of homicides in the city to 60 since the start of the year.

Police Commissioner Michael S. Harrison said in a statement that he had visited several of the crime scenes, adding that the three incidents appear to be unrelated. He said the department was working aggressively to catch the perpetrators.

Mayor Brandon Scott said the city would continue its efforts to stop violence and bring those who commit such acts to justice.

“Violent crime is our biggest challenge, and reducing it remains my top priority,” Scott said in a statement on Friday. “I will continue to work with BPD and our community partners to combat the unacceptable violence that we endured today.”

Police said the first incident occurred at 12:38 p.m., when officers found an unidentified adult female in a vehicle in the 800 block of North Bradford Avenue.

Police said they were called to the area of East Monument Street at Montford Avenue to investigate a call for discharging in the area. The woman was discovered after a brief search.

Police said medics responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

Less than two hours later, two other people were fatally shot.

In the first of these later shootings, a 31-year-old man was found suffering from gunshot wounds in the 1800 block of Moreland Avenue around 2:44 p.m., police said

Police said the victim was transported to Shock Trauma, where he was pronounced dead soon after arrival.

The next incident involved a man who was shot and killed in Northwest Baltimore, police said.

According to police, patrol officers found a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound in the 5200 block of Cordilia Avenue around 2:45 p.m.

Police said medics transported the victim to Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Police said anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact them 410-396-2100 or 1-866-7lockup.
