Mayor Brandon M. Scott today announced a new digital tool to help the city provide better assistance to the homeless.
Scott said the Mayor’s Office of Homeless Services (MOHS) and Baltimore’s Continuum Care (CoC) has launched My Data Digital Locker, an online tool that manages digital copies of vital documents needed for housing services for people experiencing homelessness.
My Digital Data Locker stores electronic copies of documents such as birth certificates and government-issued identification cards, allowing clients to control who has access to their documents. This is a vital step in the process of securing permanent housing through city housing programs for MOHS clients by getting them “document ready,” Scott said.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, MOHS has moved 291 people from temporary shelters to permanent housing, and the city plans to make at least 155 additional housing offers to people by the end of this month, according to a statement released by the mayor.
My Digital Data Locker and the Rapid Rehousing Program provide opportunities for the city to house more people in a more efficient way, the statement said.
“To eliminate homelessness, we must eliminate the barriers that stand in the way of our neighbors accessing housing,” Scott said.
