A 17-year-old Baltimore male was injured in a shooting in the Southern District, city police said Wednesday.

Southern District police officers responded to a shot spotter alert at 3:16 p.m. in the 2000 block of West Pratt Street.

Officers located the 17-year-old male in the 1900 block of McHenry Street, police said. Police said the teen suffered from gunshot wounds to his body.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and taken into surgery, police said. His condition is unknown.

Southern District shooting detectives are currently investigating the shooting and say they have learned that the suspects approached the victim on foot and opened fire on him.

The suspects then fled to an unknown location, police said.

Southern District Shooting detectives responded to the scenes and urge anyone with information to reach out to the Southern District Shooting detectives at 410-396-2499.
