Two suspects were arrested this week after they allegedly stole a woman’s car in Columbia and crashed it while fleeing from law enforcement officers on state Route 175 on Monday, Howard County police said.

Alexus Shantel Scott, 25, of Oakford Avenue in Baltimore and Khaliq Nafi Wright, 18, of North Bentalou Street in Baltimore were charged with armed carjacking, armed robbery, assault, motor vehicle theft and weapon violations, police said.

According to police, a woman was in her vehicle in the 10000 block of Towson Center Avenue in Columbia when she was approached by the armed suspects at about 8:06 p.m. The suspects demanded the car and then fled the scene after the woman complied, police said.

Officers discovered the vehicle on Route 175 and pursued it. The car crashed in another jurisdiction, where the suspects were taken into custody, police said.

There were no injuries reported.
