Howard County Executive Calvin Ball received the Good Scout Award from the National Pike District of Boy Scouts of America on Wednesday.
The Good Scout Award is presented to individuals that exemplify the values and ideals of the Boy Scouts of America in their everyday life.
“Good Scout Recipients are chosen for their outstanding community service as evidence by the interest of leadership given to many worthwhile organizations,” said Steve Breeden, the 2019 Howard County Good Scout awardee.
Last year in Howard County, over 3,000 scouts participated in scouting programs and totaled over 16,000 hours of community service. One hundred and one of these young people earned Eagle Scouts, and this year the Boys Scouts of America celebrated its inaugural class of female Eagle Scouts.
