Howard County Executive Calvin Ball signed a bill today that further protects immigrants living in the county.
The Liberty Act, or CB-63, will prevent county employees from asking about the immigration status of residents or discriminating based on immigration status. It also requires that information related to citizenship be kept confidential in Howard.
Ball said that to continue to protect undocumented residents in Howard County, he has taken it upon himself to send a letter to the Biden administration transition team emphasizing the need for changes to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and its current operations around the country.
