Howard County Executive Calvin Ball is planning to host the 5th annual Toys for Tots Giveaway at 9 a.m. Saturday in the Long Reach Village Center.

“For five years, Toys for Tots has provided free toys to thousands of children in Howard County,” Ball said. “We are grateful for our Marines who started this important initiative to help every child feel special this holiday season.”

Ball said the need for this event is greater than ever.

“I’m thankful for everyone who contributed, donated, and volunteered this year, a testament that Howard County believes in fostering a better community for all and that together we can create a merrier holiday for our neighbors in need,” Ball said.

This year, more than 900 families registered to receive gifts for their children. Due to COVID-19 restrictions this year will be drive-through only and families who registered were assigned a unique Family ID so they may pick up their toys. Toys will only be distributed to families that have been assigned to this distribution.

Last minute donations can be brought to the George Howard Building in Ellicott City before 12 p.m. : Friday. Community members can also make monetary donations online at www.toysfortots.org.
