Hogan joins 4 GOP governors in calling for COVID relief from Congress

Gov. Larry Hogan joined four other Republican governors today in calling on Congress to pass a new COVID-19 relief bill.

“As Republican governors on the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis, we strongly urge Congress to pass a bipartisan agreement on a COVID-19 relief package this month,” Hogan said in a statement.

Hogan went on to say how the stimulus packages that were passed more than eight months ago have run out and many more are going to expire before the new year. Hogan said millions of Americans, namely small businesses, are hanging by threads.

“The support of Unemployment Insurance, Pandemic Unemployment Assistance and the Paycheck Protection Program, and other resources are all essential to their survival,” Hogan said. “It would be unconscionable if Congress were to pull their lifeline now.”

Hogan joined governors Charlie Baker of Massachusetts, Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas, Phil Scott of Vermont and Chris Sununu of New Hampshire in pressing Congress to act.

“It is time to act,” Hogan said. “There is no more room for partisan positioning and political gamesmanship. Congress must come together and take action now.”
