A 24-year-old city man was arrested on Oct. 19 in connection with an Aug. 27 shooting, Baltimore City police said.

Jonathan Kandakai of the 2800 block of Parkwood Avenue was formally charged with attempted first-degree murder, firearm use, felony violent crime, and other related weapons and assault charges, police said.

Kandakai was the second of two suspects arrested in the case. The first suspect, Rodney Smith, 30, of the 1500 block of North Stricker Street, was arrested and charged as an accessory on Aug. 31, police said.

The shooting occurred at about 9:20 p.m. on Aug. 27. Officers in the Western District were dispatched to the 600 block of Cumberland Street to investigate a fight involving someone with a gun.

A 32-year-old man sought treatment at an area hospital suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg, police said. When Western District Shooting detectives took control of the investigation, they determined that the man was shot during the fight in the 600 block of Cumberland Street.

Those with information on wanted individuals should contact Warrant Apprehension Task Force detectives at 410-637-8970, or 911.

Those who want to stay anonymous with their tips can call the Metro Crime Stoppers tip line, at 1-866-7LOCKUP (1-866-756-2587).
