54-year-old man shot on Ashton Street in city

A 54-year-old man was found suffering from a gunshot wound at the 2200 block of Ashton Street, Baltimore City police said.  

A nearby foot-patrol officer heard gunfire in the area of Furrow Street and Ramsey Street at about 5:21 p.m. and saw people running from the scene, police said. The officer approached the victim and tended to his wound with a tourniquet. Detectives of the Southwest District later arrived on the scene and took control of the investigation.
