Gov. Larry Hogan and the state health secretary have updated to 10% the safe capacity limits for outdoor sporting venues and entertainment venues.
“With our key health metrics low and stable, we are taking steps to allow more spectators, including fans of the Baltimore Ravens and the Washington Football Team, to safely attend games in the stands,” Hogan said in a press release Friday.
“It remains important to continue following all of the mitigation measures and public health protocols that keep us safe, including wearing masks and practicing physical distancing,” Hogan added.
With the new order by Hogan and Maryland Secretary of Health Robert Neall, everyone is required to wear a face covering and practice social distancing protocols. All social gatherings such as tailgating are prohibited.
The Ravens have reported about 7,000 fans will be allowed to attend the next home game on Nov. 1. Officials noted that Baltimore Mayor Bernard “Jack” Young must approve of the limit. The mayor has yet to respond to the governor’s executive order.
With FedEx field’s max capacity being 80,000, officials said the Washington Football Team will be allowed to let in 8,000 fans. Outdoor entertainment venues with 2,500 or greater are limited to 10% as well, officials said.
The governor’s order also loosens restrictions for high school and college teams under certain circumstances.
