Gov. Larry Hogan is urging all Marylanders to plan their vote and make certain they are registered before Tuesday’s deadline.
The Republican governor released a public service announcement Monday, encouraging Marylanders to make a plan to vote in the upcoming presidential election as safely as possible amid the coronavirus pandemic.
“No matter how you choose to vote in the 2020 general election, we are encouraging everyone to do so in the safest way possible,” Hogan said. “It is essential for Marylanders to make a plan in advance of Election Day on Nov. 3.”
Hogan discussed the options Marylanders have.
“You may request a mail-in ballot to submit by mail or designated drop box,” Hogan said. “You may participate in person in early voting at a voting center in your county.”
“Finally, you may vote in person on Election Day, and we encourage Marylanders to vote at off-peak times to help promote physical distancing,” Hogan said.
All requests for a mail-in ballot must be received by the state on or before Oct. 20. All mail-in ballots must be delivered to a ballot drop box by 8 p.m. on Nov. 3 or postmarked by that date.
Early in-person voting will take place from Oct. 26 to Nov. 2. Voting centers will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Officials said the safest times to vote in-person are between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
