A 32-year-old woman died Tuesday from a collision involving a MARC train, Howard County police said.

Police said the incident occurred in the 5800 block of Race Road in Elkridge at approximately 8:32 a.m., when they received a report of a MARC train striking a female pedestrian.

Lynette Michelle Green of Elkridge was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Eyewitnesses said the conductor tried to avoid the collision and used his horn when he saw Green on the tracks but reported that she did not move.

The investigation into the circumstances around collision remains ongoing.
