Gov. Larry Hogan on Wednesday honored Maryland State Troopers who went above and beyond the call of duty.

Hogan and Maryland State Police Superintendent Woodrow W. Jerry Jones III paid tribute to the recipients of the highest awards during the Maryland State Police Superintendent’s Award Ceremony in Sykesville at the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions.

The Superintendent’s Award Ceremony recognizes employees of the Maryland State Police who went above and beyond to serve and protect Maryland citizens during the previous year.

Kashef Khan was awarded with Trooper of the Year. Michael Hoffman was awarded Police Communications Operator of the Year. Sydney Sarrichio was awarded Police Communications Supervisor of the Year. And, retired Maj. Greg Shipley and Milton S. Taylor received the Humanitarian Award.

“Every day that I have served as governor, I have been immensely proud of the men and women of the MSP—those of you who put your lives on the line for the rest of us,” said Hogan, noting their dedication throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Especially in today’s environment, when too often our law enforcement officers are unfairly criticized and don’t get the recognition and appreciation that they deserve, I want you all to know that you have, and will always have, the full support of your governor,” he said.
