Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan announced on Thursday that he would send firefighters to assist in the ongoing wildfires across the western United States.
Firefighting crews will be sent to California to battle the El Dorado Fire and the Slater Fire, which have been ravaging the state since early September, he said.
“Our fellow states have never hesitated to support the State of Maryland in times of crisis,” Hogan said, “and we stand ready to support those who now face an unprecedented wildfire season.”
Emergency specialists from the Anne Arundal County Fire Department also have been deployed to Oregon to assist in the tracking of wildfires, he said.
