Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski has announced that the Department of Aging will expand its food distribution efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic by providing boxes of nutritious meals to senior citizens around the county.
Olszewski said the federal Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) donated $509,000 to the program, which aims to help Baltimore County citizens who are 60 years old and older.

“We’re taking another important step to ensure older adults in Baltimore County will not go hungry through this crisis,” Olszewski said Tuesday. “Promoting food security is a top priority of my administration and we will continue to use all resources available to us to support our residents.”
The executive said that each box will include three meals and a snack for six days. The meals meet the nutritional needs of senior citizens. Boxes will be distributed by appointment only at three different senior center locations around Baltimore County, he said.
Meal boxes will be available at Liberty Senior Center and Parkville Senior Center on Tuesday May 12, and at Ateaze Senior Center on Thursday May 14.
