The Baltimore County Police have charged a 23-year-old man in connection with two armed robberies in Essex last month.

Police speculated that Zachery Erin Kuhn of the 1300 block of Pontiac Avenue in Brooklyn also may have been involved with additional robberies in other areas.

Police said an investigation began on April 29 when officers were called to the Dollar General store in the 100 block of  Beacon Road around 7:30 p.m. Officials said the suspect purchased items but stayed in the store. He returned to the check out with additional items, but this time he stepped behind the counter and pulled out a handgun and ordered the cashier to open the safe.

The robber left with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

Just after 9:30 p.m., police responded to a second armed robbery at Domino’s Pizza in the 600 block of Eastern Boulevard. This time the suspect ordered food, then stepped outside. When he came back into the building, he again stepped behind the counter, pulled out a handgun and demanded an employee to open a cash register and the safe.

Again, the robber left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The Baltimore County Robbery Detectives soon arrested Kuhn on charges of two counts of armed robbery, two counts of robbery, three counts of first -degree assault, three counts of second-degree assault, two counts of theft and use of a firearm in the commission of a violent crime. Kuhn was being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center without bail.

The detectives said they worked cooperatively with the Anne Arundel County and Baltimore Police Departments, which both had experienced similar crimes allegedly by the suspect.

Police said that Kuhn and a female passenger were arrested during an April 30 traffic stop when police located a loaded handgun on Kuhn. The female was released, police said.
