The dog of a driver who died in a car crash Saturday afternoon has been located, Baltimore County Police said.

Police said a Dodge Ram was traveling north on Campbell Boulevard near Town Center Court around 1:37 p.m. Saturday when it collided with the driver side of a Suzuki Grant Vitara that had stopped in a left turn lane. Police said the Dodge then crossed back over both northbound lanes and peered off the roadway, striking a tree head-on and catching fire.

When police, fire, and EMS personnel rushed to the scene, they pronounced the driver dead. He has not been identified.

The driver’s dog fled the crash site and could not be located during an area search by police. However, the dog was recovered early Sunday after family members began their own search efforts, police said.
