Baltimore County Police have arrested an 11-year-old girl and an 18-year-old relative in connection with a carjacking that took place in Parkville.

Officers said the teens approached a man in a car at 7:24 p.m. Tuesday in the 1300 block of Mantle Street in Parkville. They asked for directions and when the man reached for his cellphone, the youth grabbed the phone, demanded money and the keys to the vehicle. They fled the scene in the car.

Members of the Regional Auto Theft Task Force located the stolen vehicle at 1:27 a.m. Wednesday. The car had been crashed in Baltimore City. The youth were arrested by police after a brief foot chase.

Kevon Darrell Saunders, 18, of the 1500 block of East Lanvale Street in Baltimore was arrested and charged with robbery, carjacking and several other charges. Saunders was being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center without bail.

The 11-year-old girl, a relative of Saunders, was arrested and charged with several felony offenses. She was released by the Department of Juvenile Services and placed in the custody a guardian.
