The victim of a January shooting died from his wounds on Monday, Baltimore City Police said.

Andre Giles, 31, of Hadwick Drive, died around 2:10 a.m. at the Shock Trauma unit he was taken to on Jan. 28 after a disagreement erupted into a shooting in the 400 block of E. Baltimore Street. Police said doctors called homicide detectives to inform them that Giles’ remains would be taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office.

Charged in the shooting was Traevon George, 34, of the 1200 block of N. Bentalous. In January, police tracked George to the 600 block of Water Street, where he was arrested and his firearm recovered. Initially, George was charged with first-degree attempted murder.

Baltimore City Police detectives on Monday were in discussions with the State Attorney to change George’s charges to first-degree murder.
