An 18-year-old and two juveniles were being held without bail Thursday at the Baltimore County Police Department in connection with the beating of a teen in the 8700 block of Old Harford Road in Parkville.
Police speculated the assault was the result of a marijuana deal gone wrong. The juveniles were charged as adults because of the severity of the crime, police said.
Jaheim Daquan Taylor, 18, of the 8700 block of Cimarron Circle in Parkville; Kristen Joseph Johnson, 17, of the unit block of Hallview Court in Nottingham; and, Perez Antonio Barrett Jr, 16, of the 8000 block of Arbor Station Way in Parkville face charges of attempted homicide, assault, robbery and theft charges following two separate assaults on the 16-year-old in Parkville last week.
Police said last Monday the three allegedly assaulted the victim behind a building on Old Harford Road in Parkville out of anger with marijuana the teen sold to them. The teen did not initially report the incident to police but eventually reported that the three hit and kicked him until he was unconscious, stole his backpack and belongings, including his laptop.
Last Tuesday, the teen told police he met with the three around 2:30 p.m. at the same location as the first assault to allegedly resolve the dispute. Although the teen’s stolen property was recovered, he told police that Barrett allegedly punched him in the face as the other two hit and kicked him until he fell to the ground and lost consciousness again. During the fight, Barrett allegedly threatened to kill the teen, the police was told.
The three fled the scene when a witness grabbed a shovel and ran to intervene. The witness found the teen not breathing, but because he had medical training was able to clear the boy’s airway. Medics rushed the youth to an area hospital for treatment.
Taylor, Johnson and Barrett were being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center pending trial, police said.
