Baltimore County police officers wore mourning bands Thursday in honor of fallen officer Robert Zimmerman, police said.
Zimmerman was struck by two vehicles on Edmonson Avenue Nov. 5, 1986. Zimmerman died from his injuries nine days later.
Zimmerman, 46, worked the Western Traffic Unit for the Baltimore County Police Department for 18 years.
During his career, Zimmerman received five departmental awards as well as being named officer of the year by the Catonsville Optimist Club.
