On opening night, a split for Towson basketball teams

In a season-opening doubleheader at SECU Arena Tuesday, Towson men’s and women’s basketball teams earned a split decision.

The men’s team downed George Washington 72-58 in a game in which they hit seven 3-pointers and led by as much as 18 in the second half.

The women’s team, which unveiled its 2018-2019 Colonial Athletic Association tournament championship banner, lost 73-67 to Penn State after leading for much of the first half.
