An off-duty police officer stopped a bank robbery Monday only to find out the suspect was wanted by the FBI’s Baltimore field office for numerous bank robberies across the region.

The suspect, Fletcher Myea Dorsett, 51, was arrested and is currently being held on no bail status, county police said.

According to police, Officer E. Legge of the Woodlawn Precinct was in the Bank of America in the 7900 block of Honeygo Boulevard in Perry Hall Monday when Forsett walked in and placed a backpack on the counter.

The suspect left the bank a few minutes later and the teller announced that she had just been robbed, police said.

Legge ran after the suspect and was able to call for backup, police said. They said the responding officer, Officer R. Cross, recognized the suspect immediately from an FBI wanted suspect release.
