A Rosedale man was killed in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday morning, police said.

Norris Carl Assam, 77, of the 1800 block of Hanford Road in Rosedale died after his Jeep Cherokee ran into a utility pole near Lillian Holt Drive at Kenwood Avenue around 7:30 a.m., police said.

Assam was pronounced dead at Medstar Franklin Square Medical Center.

Police said Assam had been driving west on Kenwood Avenue when for unknown reasons, he failed to stop at a red light and continued across the intersection, not stopping until the vehicle hit a light pole.

The Baltimore County Police Crash Investigation Team is looking into what caused the accident.
