The Chief Medical Examiner ruled Friday that the death of a 78-year-old man on Oct.6 was a homicide, police said. The determination came after an autopsy was performed.

The case has now been given to the Baltimore County Police Homicide Unit for investigation.

The man, identified as William David Johnson Jr., with no established address, suffered numerous head injuries from an assault that occurred on Sept. 24, police said. He died at John Hopkins Bayview Medical Center eight days ago.

Police found the victim in the 500 block of Eastern Boulevard last month and said he had been battered multiple times with a blunt object, police said.

No suspect has been identified in this case. Anyone who may information is asked to call 410-307-2020. Callers may remain anonymous.
