A Baltimore man who allegedly stabbed multiple people in Hunt Valley Towne Centre on Saturday afternoon died in an officer-involved shooting, county police said.

Police were initially dispatched to Hunt Valley Wine, Liquor, and Beer at 1:43 p.m. when they received a call about the suspect threatening people with a box cutter, which was later determined to actually be a folding-style knife, police said.

Three victims were injured inside the liquor store during an altercation with the suspect, who has been identified as Jamaal Ramone Taylor of the 6000 block of Amberwood Road, police said. Police said Taylor fled on foot before causing two more stabbing incidents at neighboring businesses.

Police said officers arrived to find the suspect, holding a knife, in the intersection of Shawan Road and McCormick Road. According to police, officers repeatedly told Taylor to drop the knife but he refused, leading the officers to discharge their weapons. Taylor was pronounced deceased at the scene by responding medics.

All five stabbing victims suffered non-life-threatening wounds. Hunt Valley Centre security officers reported that they had initially responded and escorted the suspect off the property, but the suspect returned, leading them to call Baltimore County Police for assistance.

County police are also investigating a separate incident involving the suspect and the Maryland Transit Administration Police earlier that day, police said.

Officers involved with the shooting will be placed on routine administrative lead pending an internal investigation into the shooting. Police are still investigating the incident and ask anyone with information to call 410-307-2020.
