Baltimore County firefighters were busy this weekend battling two blazes, one at a popular Catonsville restaurant and nightclub and a second one at a Woodlawn storage facility.

Two career and one volunteer firefighter were rushed to a local hospital for heat exhaustion Friday after fighting a three-alarm fire at Loafers Sports Bar & Grill, located in the 6500 block of Baltimore National Pike.

A Howard County fire marshal was traveling on U.S. 40 and saw smoke coming from the business, known as Loafers Lounge. He called 911 and the County Fire Department sent crews to the scene at 3:59 p.m. Fire officials estimated damages at more than $1 million.

About 12 hours later, around 3:08 a.m. Saturday, Baltimore County fire officials responded to a two-alarm fire at a Woodlawn U-Haul storage facility in the 1500 block of Woodlawn Drive. Officials from the Westview Station found several storage units on fire. Firefighters fought the stubborn blaze for more than two hours before bringing it under control at 5:20 a.m.

Both fires were under investigation Wednesday.
