An 83-year-old Essex man suffered a heart attack and later died when his Toyota Corolla was struck by another car and rolled, Baltimore County Police said.

Marion Joseph Krolikowski of the 1700 block of Hilltop Avenue in Essex was rushed to MedStar Franklin Square Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:37 p.m.

Route 702 at East Homberg Avenue in Essex was closed through the Tuesday afternoon commute.

County Police Crash Team investigators said that the accident occurred just before 2:40 p.m. Tuesday. Krolikowski’s Corolla was traveling west on East Homberg Avenue crossing Route 702. A Dodge Charger, driven by a 32-year-old man who was traveling south, struck the Corolla on the passenger side. The Corolla flipped over.

Police said the elderly man suffered cardiac arrest at the scene and was rushed to the Franklin Square Hospital. Maryland State Police Medevac rushed the driver of the Charger to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police said an investigation continues.
