A local man was killed early Sunday evening when the vehicle he was driving struck a dump truck in Reisterstown, county police said.

The incident occurred at Franklin Boulevard and Nicodemus Road around 3:30 p.m., police said.

They said Fernando Jamie Loizage, 89, of the 400 block of Fox View Court in Reisterstown was traveling westbound on Franklin Boulevard in a Ford F 150 when he failed to stop at the steady red circular signal and struck the dump truck.

The dump truck was attempting to make a left turn from southbound Nicodemus Road onto eastbound Franklin Boulevard, police said.

Loizage was pronounced dead at approximately 4:30 p.m. at Sinai Hospital, police said.

The operator of the dump truck was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital. A passenger in the dump truck declined medical attention at the scene.

The circumstances involving this accident continue to be under investigation by the Baltimore County Police Crash Investigation Team.
