Howard County police charged a Laurel man with attempted murder following an altercation early Monday morning.
Police responded to a vacant building, located in the 9500 block of Washington Boulevard in Jessup, after receiving a call that a man and woman had been involved in a dispute, police said. Police said officers arrived to find the woman suffering from a stab wound.
Aaron Alton Lee Rodgers, 29, was apprehended near the scene and has since been charged with attempted murder, assault and reckless endangerment, police said.
The victim was brought to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center and is reported to be in serious condition.
