Two shootings, one found dead

A 29-year-old woman died of gunshot wounds Friday, while a 28-year-old man was listed in critical condition at a local hospital after separate early morning shootings, police said.

The woman was shot in the chest and head in the 4900 block of Goodnow Road around 3:30 a.m. in the Central District, police said. The medics declared her dead at the scene.

Earlier, police in the Northeast District said that the man suffered gunshot wounds to the chest and arrived at a local hospital around 1:20 a.m. He was rushed to surgery and is in critical condition. Police said that an investigation determined that the shooting took place in the 300 block of Eutaw Street.

Both shootings took place 5.6 miles apart from each other, police said.
