A city man was arrested for a handgun violation and several other crimes last weekend after he was pulled over for a traffic violation, police said.

Police said Maurice Hilton, 29, of the 2400 block of West Lafayette Avenue was charged with traffic, handgun and narcotics violations.

Hilton was pulled over for a traffic violation in the 100 block of South Payton Street in Baltimore at 4:40 p.m. on Nov. 24, police said. They said Hilton was driving with a suspended license and then fled the scene while they were checking his records.

Police said a loaded .380 semi-automatic handgun fell from under his clothing as police chased and caught him in the 300 block of South Payton Street.

After searching Hilton’s vehicle, police said they found two vials of crack cocaine inside his console. Hilton is prohibited from possessing a firearm and remains in Central Booking until his trial date without bail, police said.
