A local man was charged in connection with a homicide that occurred on Wednesday and is being held at Central Booking without bail, city police said.
Police said they suspect that Leroy Hilton, 26, of the 500 block of Brune Street, was involved in the murder of Murfeg Hussein, 61, who suffered an injury to his head in the 600 block of North Fremont Avenue.
Hussein was transported to an area hospital where he never regained consciousness, police said.
Hussein was walking in the 600 block of North Fremont Avenue when he fell to the ground after a male suspect hit him in the head from behind, police said.
